Japan Edges Toward Military Pre-Emptive Strike Option

TOKYO—Ruling-party lawmakers are pushing for Japan’s army to have the ability to strike overseas missile-start sites to enhance deterrence versus potential attacks from North Korea and China.

A proposal produced Friday by the Liberal Democratic Party’s protection policy committee is set to be a new check of Japan’s pacifist structure beneath Key Minister Shinzo Abe, who has sought to loosen limits on the army in response to rising worries from Beijing and Pyongyang in current yrs.
