At G-20 Summit, U.S. Agrees to Relax Tariffs on European Steel

ROME—The U.S. and the European Union have reached a deal to relieve U.S. tariffs on metal and aluminum imports that date to former President Donald Trump, levies that have been a longstanding irritant to European leaders.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo explained Saturday that the arrangement would keep the tariffs but would permit limited amounts of European imports to enter the U.S. tariff-totally free. She explained the EU would drop retaliatory tariffs in return and expressed self-confidence that the deal would relieve offer-chain tension and significant charges.
