MoD blames French vendor, Naval Group, for Scorpene delays
The Ministry of Defence (MoD), while answering issues in Parliament on Wednesday, squarely blamed French warship builder, Naval Group (formerly DCNS), for extensive delays in constructing six Scorpene submarines for the Indian Navy at Mazagon Dock Ltd, Mumbai.
“The delays have been prompted owing to several flaws noticed through the trials of the submarines, requirement of specific modifications and delays in the offer of items needed for building by the collaborator/ToT (transfer of technology) provider – Naval Group, France,” said the MoD.
The MoD declined to say how extensive submarine deficiencies would go on. “In the fascination of countrywide safety, the details simply cannot be divulged. Even so, the present submarine fleet is becoming preserved battle worthy by way of lifestyle extension and modernization/upgradation,” it said.
Developing border streets quicker
