State Department Names Five Chinese Media Outlets as Foreign Diplomatic Missions in U.S.
WASHINGTON—The Trump administration is heightening scrutiny of China’s significant state-owned media shops in the U.S., designating them as overseas diplomatic missions, in a more energy to rein in Chinese authorities action.
The State Department mentioned Tuesday that the U.S. functions of five Chinese news organizations—Xinhua Information Company, China Radio Intercontinental, China Worldwide Tv Network and the distributors of China Every day and People’s Daily—will be regarded as overseas diplomatic missions.
