Telangana procures 60 lakh tonnes of paddy

The Civil Materials Section of Telangana has concluded procurement of 60 lakh tonnes, assembly the concentrate on set by the Foods Corporation of India (FCI) for the State. The make, procured from above ten lakh farmers, is valued at about ₹12,000 crore.

The State, having said that, expects arrivals of 30 lakh additional tonnes of paddy, thinking about the bumper output from the kharif crop. The State expects a complete output of about 1.30 crore tonnes from the kharif season.

As the procurement process concluded in several pieces of the State, the Section has shut down virtually fifty percent of the six,900 procurement centres that it opened.

With the State finishing the procurement concentrate on and additional arrivals expected, the State Govt requested the Union Govt to maximize the cap.

The State Govt deputed 5 ministers, led by Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy, to keep conversations with Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Foods, General public Distribution and Foods, and encourage the Govt to procure additional paddy from the State. The Union Govt, having said that, has not offered any assurance to the State Govt in this regard.
