Karnataka cashew manufacturers body seeks support policy

The Karnataka Cashew Manufacturers’ Association (KCMA) has urged the Authorities to occur out with a properly-built cashew policy to make the Point out the cashew hub of the region.

At a digital seminar on ‘Making Karnataka the cashew hub of India’, organised by the Mangaluru chapter of CII , Subraya Pai, president of KCMA, explained Karnataka can certainly become a cashew hub and make abundant work to rural women of all ages and improve the socio-financial condition, if the sector gets a properly-built cashew policy.

“We will lead to the Aatma Nirbhar Bharat by planting much more saplings and seeking to attain self-sufficiency in raw cashew nuts. This will reduce our import dependency. We will need much more assist and investments in study and enhancement, improvements, and new procedures of manufacturing,” he explained.

Referring to the function played by cashew processing units in Karnataka during the pandemic scenario, he explained cashew market has been a product for all the industries by ensuring no loss of work amidst the lockdown.

Noordeen Abdul, Chairman of Cashew Export Advertising Council of India (CEPCI), explained that CEPCI has submitted a revival bundle for the Indian cashew industries to the Centre. It is a roadmap to enhance the domestic manufacturing of raw cashew nuts and advised Karnataka as one of the States for applying the roadmap.

It has also prompt the govt to penetrate new markets by elaborating the wellness rewards of cashew.
